In the spotlight: Online database for healthcare
As a student, researcher, or healthcare professional, it is essential to have access to reliable and up-to-date information. This month, we highlight three key online databases that are indispensable for your studies, research, or practice: PubMed Central, CINAHL, and Medline.
With over 8.5 million full-text articles, PubMed Central is a valuable resource for scientific literature in the biomedical and life sciences fields. This free database is maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) and provides access to a vast number of articles from scientific journals. If you want to gain in-depth knowledge or find sources for your thesis, PMC is an excellent starting point.
CINAHL with Full Text focuses on nursing and allied healthcare. Here you will find articles on biomedical topics, alternative medicine, and consumer health information, among others. This database is the go-to choice for nursing students and faculty.
Medline is an authority in the field of medical information. This database, which uses Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), contains a broad selection of resources on medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and public health.
Where can you find these databases? All three databases can be found via our database overview on Saxion Library, through our catalog, and are also searchable at once through our Discovery service.
